Sutlej just landed on my radar with their new single “Tell Me You Care” and I’m really glad they did because this was a great introduction to the band. After spending some time with the track, it’s easy to hear that they already have a strong character and know exactly where they want to go with their sound.
The song carries plenty of emotion and passion and that honesty is one of the reasons I kept listening. The lyrics connect well with the mood of the music, while the vocal performance brings the message in a great way. The melodies stayed with me after the song ended which is always a good sign. I also enjoyed how much attention was given to the production. Everything sounds polished without losing the band’s energy. The guitars bring several memorable moments throughout the track, the drums add plenty of drive and together they create an arrangement that stays interesting from beginning to end.
“Tell Me You Care” is another reminder that good rock music doesn’t need tricks when the songwriting is solid. Sutlej have delivered a track that sounds confident, well put together and full of purpose. I honestly enjoyed getting to know this band through this release and after hearing the quality of the songwriting, the honest lyrics, the memorable melodies, and the professional production, I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on what they release for the rest of the year.
