Trickshooter Social Club is a new name on my radar and I really loved their energy. They recently released their new EP “Porchlight Pie” and after spending time with it. I can honestly say it was an easy record to enjoy from start to finish. If you’re looking for a strong mix of rock and folk, this release delivers exactly that while keeping its own identity throughout the entire listen. It’s an amazing experience from start to finish.
I really liked how full the sound is. There is always something happening, whether it’s the guitars, the fiddle parts or the steady rhythm section holding everything together. The songs are packed with great musical moments but what is really good that they never sound crowded. I like how everything sits in the right place and the production and mixing help bring out the band’s strengths without taking attention away from the songwriting.
The melodies are catchy and some choruses kept finding their way back into my head later in the day. Trickshooter Social Club sound like a band that knows exactly what they want to do and has the experience to do it well. There is also a thoughtful side to the EP, touching on social and political themes but they focused more on the music itself.
I listened more than once and never got tired of it. Every spin seemed to reveal another small detail that I had missed before. So, for me, this is a great record from a professional band. I enjoyed every second of it and it’s an EP I’ll definitely revisit again. Goodnight!
