Sometimes I find myself out of words when writing about some releases and this is exactly what happened with “Lunar Shadows” by the Norwegian project The White Whisper. I was supposed to write about this amazing masterpiece earlier this month, but every time I sat down to write, I got lost in the world this artist creates with his music.
I’m not kidding. I really mean it. The sound design of this track is like a trap. Once you get in, you can’t get out. This is the title track from the album Lunar Dances and even though it is only an instrumental piece, it manages to hold your attention from beginning to end. No vocals are guiding the way but the music says more than enough.
The instruments, effects and small details all move together in a smooth way. The sound stays simple, the tempo stays down and that gives the track space to breathe. There is also a darker mood running through the piece which fits well with the album’s idea of bringing deeper emotions into electronic music.
The White Whisper, the project of talented producer Max Barberi, has a style that is easy to remember once you spend time with it. The quality of the music is interesting and it is clear that he knows exactly what he is doing. This is more than just a good track. It is one of those rare releases that keeps pulling me back every time I think I’m finished listening. If you’re looking for vocals and want to get lost even further in his world, I recommend checking out the full album on Bandcamp. CLICK HERE!
