Reetoxa – The Lisa Song

Here is another single from this talented Australian band. Reetoxa’s new release “The Lisa Song” gave me a completely different experience from “War Killer” and that’s one of the things I like about Jason McKee’s music. He doesn’t sound interested in repeating himself and this track shows another side of his songwriting.

The story behind the song adds something special to it. Built around a chance meeting that stayed with Jason long after the night ended. The track carries a sense of curiosity and wonder without trying too hard to push the message. It’s honest and easy to connect with.

I really loved the instrumentation here. The production gives enough space for the music to breathe and there is a lot happening in the background of the song. Different sounds, tones, and musical ideas keep showing up which makes each part interesting to follow. At the same time, the vocal lines are incredibly catchy. A few listens are all it takes before parts of the melody start replaying in your head. Jason does a great job delivering those moments and his singing fits the song perfectly. The lyrics are memorable without being complicated.

I also loved the atmosphere and overall sound. Reetoxa has a style that is completely their own and that is becoming obvious with every release I hear. This song reminded me why I enjoy Jason’s work so much. Honestly, I can’t get enough of his music and “The Lisa Song” is another release I’ll be keeping on repeat.
