The Belmont Estate – Songbook of The Belmont Estate

I had to wait until the house was quiet and everyone was asleep before sitting down with “Songbook of The Belmont Estate”. This is the kind of album that asks for your full attention. It isn’t background music. It needs time, and it rewards that time.

I wasn’t sure how to approach this review at first. Part of me wanted to go through the album track by track, but after a few listens I realized that wouldn’t tell the whole story. This record works best as one complete experience.

The Belmont Estate have a style that I connected with quickly. There is real care behind these songs, from the writing to the melodies and the overall sound. The band has a great sense of how to build a song without making it complicated. The lyrics stay with you, the melodies stick around long after the album ends and each track brings something a little different to the table.

One thing I kept coming back to was the variety. The instrumentation changes from song to song, giving the record different moods while still keeping everything connected. The quality of the project is impressive, especially for a debut album. There is a little bit of everything here and it never feels repetitive which is not easy to achieve.

I feel like I have spent time inside the band’s world. This is not just a collection of songs. This has been a great listening experience. The Belmont Estate are going straight onto my favorites list and I’ll definitely be writing about their music again. It’s an excellent debut and I’m excited to hear what comes next.
