Shhhh! It’s 11pm. The kids are in a deep sleep and this amazing UK band Tabitha Zu caught me off guard in a really good way. I went in thinking this was a brand new single, but it turns out “On Reality” has been around since 1992, now brought back out into the open. That alone makes it interesting, like finding an old tape in a box and pressing play again.
The track kicks in with that rough edge you don’t hear much anymore. Guitars are sharp, the bass sits right under it and the drums push everything forward. Perfect setup, right? It reminds me of those UK alternative bands from the early 90s, when things sounded a bit messy but full of passion and meaning. Melanie Garside’s voice is strong and she is saying what needs to be said.
The lyrics and melodies match the mood of the song. Be careful, nothing here sounds cleaned up and that’s the point. It carries that raw rock energy from start to finish with hooks that stay in your head after one spin.
I didn’t know Tabitha Zu before this. But I’m glad I ran into them now. This re-release is like a second chance for the song to reach people like me. I’ll be going back to check what else they made. They’ve got my attention now. Give them a follow online and show some love, they earned it over time for real now.
