Caitty is back with her new song “Not Country Enough For You” which starts in a calm and easy way. And it pulled me in a second. It leans into a soft country sound but there’s a pop side to it that makes it easy to stay with.
She is one of my favorite indie artists. Her voice is pure and charming. There’s something about it that just sticks. I’ve listened to most of her previous releases and it’s the same thing every time. I end up playing her music again and again without thinking much about it. Even my wife does the same when we’re driving.
The story behind the song is real. It comes from being told you don’t quite fit, and instead of forcing it, she turns it into something honest. The writing is simple and the melody carries it in a smooth way.
The production stays light, letting her lead the whole record. I think Caitty has something special. Her sound doesn’t try to be too much and that’s exactly why it works. I’ll definitely keep this one in rotation.
