Sweet Fig just landed on my radar with their single “CSHG”. The first thing that hit me with this song was the drive behind it. It’s not just loud but the kind that keeps pushing forward without letting you drift away. The sound has that rock backbone. It’s steady and confident but then those pop vocal melodies slide in and get stuck in your head immediately. I caught myself replaying the chorus before the track even ended which doesn’t happen often.
Sweet Fig really works as a duo in a balanced way. Anna’s voice carries a lot of weight here. She has one of the best voices we’ve heard in months. There’s grit in her voice but also impressive control. On the other side. Nate’s instrumentation keeps things moving with purpose. The guitars are strong, especially in the chorus, giving it that lift, but there are smaller moments in between where things shift just enough to keep it interesting. It’s the production style that caught my attention in no time.
Yes, as I said, the production style here is my favorite and it deserves a mention. I like how everything sounds clean without losing impact. You can hear each part clearly and the mixing doesn’t bury anything. This helps the song hit harder. There’s a polished edge to it, but it doesn’t take away from the energy. If anything, it makes the whole thing easier to lock into.
I also liked how the atmosphere builds as the track goes on. It knows when to open up and when to pull back slightly. That balance is what kept me engaged the whole time. Knowing this started from a couple of guitar ideas makes sense. It has that “built from a spark” kind of structure where everything grows naturally from a core idea instead of feeling pieced together. Great idea!
The chorus stayed with me for hours. Strong guitars, sharp vocal lines and just enough punch to make it worth going back again. This feels like a duo that knows what they’re doing. The song is well put together and honestly, it deserves more ears on it. I’m already interested to hear what they drop next.
