Rachel Swain – Old Familiar Way

Good evening, everyone! I didn’t expect this song “Old Familiar Way” by Rachel Swain to stick with me the way it did. I really loved every second and found myself singing the chorus a few hours later.

There’s something unique and catchy about how she blends pop-rock and country here. It’s not trying too hard to be either one. She just lands in this in-between space that is easy to get into. The rhythm moves nicely and the country touches in the instrumentation especially the way everything is layered give it a warm and full sound without making it heavy.

Her voice is lovely and fits this style perfectly. She has one of the best voices we’ve heard in months. It’s gentle but still carries enough weight to hold your attention. More than that, her delivery is what really pulled me in. The production is polished and handled with care. Every part of the instrumental sits where it should and it lets the song breathe. The lyrics also deserve a mention. They’re simple but hit in the right spots which works well with the overall feel.

This is just a really enjoyable track. It’s catchy, well put together and easy to come back to. I’ll definitely keep Rachel Swain on my radar for whatever she drops next.
