For fans of grime and alternative hip hop, Callum Ford’s debut album “Slow Progress” is a must-hear. Track after track, this record kept surprising me in the best ways. Built in collaboration with producer Filip Przybyla, the project blends heartfelt storytelling with soulful beats, gritty flows and vibrant instrumentals. This collaboration just works, it’s like the artists were made to create together. Callum’s voice is rich and commanding with a delivery full of passion and precision. Across 12 tracks, the album explores growth, struggle and identity, all while offering melodies that are smooth and captivating.
What makes this album shine is its emotional honesty. The lyrics feel lived-in and real. The production is polished and brings an organic warmth to every track. Songs like “Evil Schemes” bring raw energy while “The Real Thing” leans into smooth R&B grooves. But honestly, my favorite track is “A Polite Breakup” I loved its emotional weight, powerful delivery and great production. Even if you’re not deeply into hip hop, you’ll feel the heart in every line. This new release is nothing but a good hip hop album to vibe to all day long and one of the best records I’ve heard this year.
