Block – The Last Single Guy [Deluxe Edition]

I just discovered this new album, “The Last Single Guy” by Block, is a powerful reintroduction to an artist who helped shape the anti-folk genre. With this re-release, the 17-track album feels fresh yet nostalgic, thanks in part to the polished remastering and three previously unreleased gems “Hands Up”, “Cream Crackered” and “Run Run Run”. The production is clean while the songwriting is raw, quirky and deeply personal. Block’s voice carries a unique charm that grabs you and doesn’t let go and the instrumentals are layered with purpose, giving each song its own atmosphere.

My favorite track of the album is “Sweet Potato Pie” which stands out with its fun rhythms and catchy hooks. I really like this artist’s style and sound. His music is different in a way that feels refreshing. Block just landed on my radar and I’m genuinely glad he did. I’ll be keeping an ear out for what’s next.
