“The Things You Thought” is a piece of art, it’s from San Antonio-based Rock band Phonolux. The song is about accepting the fact that most people don’t change and learning to embrace that. This song is one of the best Rock songs we have heard in months. Their guitars and drums are loud and enjoyable and the vocals are amazing and give the song a good atmosphere. There is a great level of songwriting and vocal performance shine up from this band and we are very excited to see what Phonolux is preparing for us within the next few months, we really like surprises.
ABOUT THE BAND:
Phonolux is an American rock band from San Antonio, TX., formed in 2007 from a craigslist ad. The band consists of Buddy Calvo (vocals, piano, keyboards, drums), Art Guillermo Jr.(bass, guitar, drums), Armando Mora (bass) and Art Romo (guitar). Phonolux released their debut self-titled album in 2009 and have built upon their “Beatles meets Supertramp” sound ever since. Their sophomore effort, Nashville Fires received positive reviews, and the popularity of their hard-hitting track, “Hurricane”, off of the Feathered Fortress EP is still going strong.
In January 2020, Phonolux released the two-song EP JeJune and have been releasing a single a month ever since, stirring up controversy with their polarizing, provocative single “Regime”, and the animated music video that accompanied it. Showing no signs of slowing down despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the band is tracking remotely and will continue to release singles all year long, offering listeners a more direct, piano rooted yet guitar-oriented sound that ranks among the best work yet from the band.
