I’d bet you can’t name one indie band that can give you this kind of variety and commitment in music as OpCritical does. This band keeps bringing new ideas and their new single “Parachute” is another good example of that.
The first thing that caught me here is how the song and video work together. The animated video is fun to watch and I enjoyed following its story instead of just having music playing in the background. The song talks about the hope for freedom, justice, and happiness, and the video gives that message its little story.
The vocal delivery is smooth, but with OpCritical, I always think there is more to pay attention to. The lyrics carry meaning and if you focus on them, the message becomes much stronger. The rhythm is just right for the song. The drums keep it moving and the guitars come in loud enough to give it some weight.
I like the ideas this band brings into their music and there is a unique atmosphere around these songs that keeps me curious about what comes next. I’m super excited about this one, because I enjoyed both the video story and the lyrics. This is a great listen and another reminder that OpCritical is not afraid to say something with their music. This band never fails to impress me and I’m happy I gave this one my time.
