It’s a beautiful sunny day and Reetoxa feels like the right artist to have playing on a day like this. The Melbourne project is back with a new single, “You Deserve Better Than Me” and I spent the whole morning listening to it more than once.
I really like the way Jason writes his music. There is something easy about the way he puts the lyrics and melodies together and he knows how to deliver each line. You can hear years of experience in his voice, but there is also a real sense of passion behind the performance. The instrumentation caught my attention right away. The guitars work so well with his voice while the professional production keeps everything clear. It has a nice energy, but there is also a softer emotion running through the performance that suits the story.
The song came from a date that seemed promising but didn’t lead to something deeper and that idea of meeting someone at the wrong time gives the lyrics a relatable side. It’s honest, easy to listen to and honestly a good choice for these hot days when you want something that doesn’t ask too much from you. I kept playing it today. For me, this is another Reetoxa song that shows why I enjoy listening to Jason’s work. He has a style that feels personal without becoming complicated and I hope there is more like this coming soon.
