Motihari Brigade – Fortunate Son

I really enjoyed listening to this amazing band and their take on “Fortunate Son”. Covering such a well known rock song is never easy, especially one that already carries so much attitude and history behind it, but Motihari Brigade managed to make it exciting in their own way without losing the spirit of the original.

The first thing that grabbed me here was the energy. The band sounds professional from start to finish and the full instrumentation gives the track a strong punch. The guitars have a raw drive. The drums keep everything moving at the right pace and the chorus is powerful. I really loved the vocal delivery because it brought enough personality to separate this version from simply copying Creedence Clearwater Revival note for note.

The production and mixing are really well done here. You can notice that everything sounds clear and balanced but still keeps that rock and roll edge. There are a lot of great moments in the arrangement, especially in the transitions and layered guitar parts. The band understood the message behind the song. That frustration and anger tied to war and power still come through and it makes the performance hit harder.

This is a strong cover from a professional band that really cares about the music they make. I had a great time listening to it and I’ll definitely keep an eye on them from now on.
