French Dogs – Broken Glass

French Dogs reminded me why I still like digging through new indie bands in the first place. Their new single “Broken Glass” carries this straight up rock energy that grabbed me before the first minute even settled in. It doesn’t waste time trying to sound clever or polished. The band just throws itself into the track and that attitude sticks the whole way through.

The instrumentation is my favorite part here. The guitars have weight, the drums keep everything moving and the entire song sounds alive from start to finish. I really liked how the vocal melodies stayed in my head afterward. I found myself humming the chorus by the next morning. There’s a rough edge to the performance that works well with the atmosphere of the track.

The lyrics are original and well written. The song touches on breaking away from routine and trying to escape that stuck feeling that can slowly wear people down. The melodies and lyrics move together in a way that keeps the track flowing without sounding crowded. That balance can be hard to pull off, but this talented band handles it really well here.

You can hear the passion behind this band and that’s what stayed with me most after listening. The production quality is impressive, their sound has character and they already seem confident in what they want to be. This track made me want to go listen to more from them, and I’d love to cover their future releases too.
