DJ Cards – Lose It in the Lights

I had this playing in the car with the windows cracked a bit and then the drop hit, I was losing it. Dangerous? Maybe. But the vibe was just too good. “Lose It in the Lights” by DJ Cards lands right in that type of EDM I used to keep on repeat a few years back. I’m not saying it’s old or nostalgic, but more like it picks up where that sound left off and keeps it moving. The build-ups are clean and when the drop comes in, it actually pays off. No fake hype.

The beat carries most of it. It’s tight, steady and easy to lock into whether you’re driving or just sitting around doing nothing. I can see this working in a crowded club, but it also fits those random late-night drives where you don’t really have a destination.

Vocals are simple but catchy which works here. They don’t get in the way, they just sit on top and give you something to hold onto while everything else moves underneath. I really like how everything is put together. The layers, the timing, the way each section moves into the next – it shows he actually cares about the craft. There’s real attention behind it.

You can tell DJ Cards enjoys making this kind of music. His energy is amazing and the quality of his music is impressive. I’ll probably keep an eye on his next releases. If he keeps this level, I’m not done writing about him anytime soon.
