Ian Vargo showed up on my feed out of nowhere and his new single stuck around longer than I expected. “I Love You Even More Now That You’re a Little Fucked Up”. It’s a long title but you’ll love it. The song leans into that messy and slightly off-center feeling people usually try to hide and it works because it doesn’t try too hard to explain itself.
The chorus here is amazing and was the first thing that hit me. It’s the kind you catch by the second run and end up repeating without noticing. It’s like when a line slips into your head while you’re doing something else. I caught myself singing the chorus by the next morning. The guitars carry a lot of that weight. They’re bright and pushed forward just enough to keep things moving without drowning everything else out. There’s a great solo tucked in there that was not just dropped in for no reason.
Ian Vargo has one of the best voices we’ve heard recently. It’s rich, a bit rough around the edges in the right spots and it fits the tone of the song in a great way. The production of this track is professional and the mixing and mastering are polished. I really like how the song circles around small and imperfect details instead of going big and dramatic.
I kept going back to it mostly for the melody and the way everything clicks together. It’s catchy and sounds like something you’d keep on a playlist for a while. not just a quick spin. I’ll definitely keep an eye on what he does next.
