Ricky Earlywine – move like this

Ricky Earlywine just landed on my radar with his latest single “move like this”. The song sits somewhere between bedroom pop and R&B and honestly it hit my “drive home” playlist at the right time. It’s the kind of song that is smooth but still has a bit of drive behind it.

The first thing I noticed was the melody. It flows easily and the track never sounds too busy. The instrumental stays soft and simple which gives Ricky space to lead the song with his voice. That choice really works here because his vocal performance carries most of the emotion.

Ricky handles all the vocals himself and you can hear the care that went into those layers. The harmonies slide in and out of the track in a great way. There’s also something very personal about the sound. Since the track was built in his own studio setup. It has that feeling of an artist shaping every piece on his own terms. Instead of sounding rough or unfinished. The mix is tight and clear. Especially around the vocal lines.

The lyrics also connect nicely with the melody. They move with the rhythm of the song in a way that makes the whole thing easy to sit with. I love how relaxed the track feels while still being catchy. I ended up replaying it a couple of times without really thinking about it. That’s usually the sign that a song is doing something right.

Honestly, this single is easily one of the better Pop-R&B tracks I’ve heard in the past few weeks. Ricky Earlywine knows his lane and after hearing this one. I’m definitely excited to see what he releases next.
