Moon Construction Kit – Snake charmer

I remember writing about Moon Construction Kit back in December when “Chemicals” came out. So I was curious to hear where he would go next. I listened to this new single “Snake Charmer” late at night with headphones. Not expecting much more than a quick listen. But the voice pulled me in right away.

Olivier Cornu (The one man behind this project) has one of those voices that stays with you for a while after the song ends. It isn’t loud or flashy. It just carries a honest feeling. The melody opens up in the chorus and the whole track sounds a bit bigger. Like floating for a moment before settling back down again.

The sound around him is carefully built. There’s a soft keyboard tone running through the track and small details here and there. Little instrumental touches that keep things moving. And I love how everything circles back to the vocal which is the heart of the song.

The song leans into heavier ideas, but the way it’s delivered keeps the track easy to sit with. It’s reflective and haunting. The lyrics are direct and personal which makes the performance feel even stronger. I love this artist’s voice and sound. You can hear the care in how everything is placed together. From the arrangement to the final mix. It sounds thoughtful but still relaxed.

After enjoying “Chemicals” a few months ago. I’m happy to hear another strong release from him. “Snake Charmer” confirms that Moon Construction Kit is someone worth keeping an eye on. This was an easy song to play again once it finished and that usually says everything.
