“People Pleaser” by Katie Belle slipped into my playlist recently. It didn’t take long before I realized it was the kind of pop track that stays with you which I was looking for. Not because it’s flashy or over the top. It just has the right mix of energy and honesty.
The beat carries a steady pop groove. There’s a little serious tone running through the song that gives it more weight than a typical radio style track. The instrumental has a lot going on in small details. Little sounds and textures that show up around the chorus and keep things interesting.
Katie’s voice sits right in the middle of it all. She has that catchy pop tone that works well with this style. The way she delivers the lyrics is confident and direct. Her performance is just amazing. It’s like she knows exactly what kind of song she wanted to make and followed that idea all the way through.
Then the chorus arrives and that’s where the song really locks in. The melody hits quickly and sticks. It’s one of those hooks that keeps looping in your head long after the track ends. The production also deserves credit. It sounds clean and balanced and the mix lets each part of the song breathe. The instrumental never overwhelms the vocal which helps the lyrics land.
I like the balance between polish and personality. It sounds professional, but it still carries a bit of attitude and character. So after a couple of listens. I ended up adding it straight into my “drive home” playlist. Katie Belle definitely grabbed my attention with this one and I’m already excited to hear what she releases next.
