Good morning folks! I’ve been following Audren for a while now so when her new single “Smile, People Smile” showed up I clicked play right away. A few seconds in. I already knew this one was going to stick.
The groove is the first thing that grabs you. The rhythm has this light bounce that keeps the whole track moving. and the horns add a really fun touch. It’s like the band behind her is enjoying themselves while playing it. Hard not to nod along a little. Audren’s voice is piece of art. That’s really where the magic sits. She just sings the song the way it should be sung and somehow that works perfectly here. The chorus has that kind of hook that sneaks into your head without asking.
I really liked the lyrics and the idea behind them. The song came from a difficult time for her, but instead of sounding heavy, it pushes toward something brighter. It’s basically saying. Sometimes you just decide to lift yourself up a bit even if the day isn’t going your way. The band behind her deserves some credit too. The groove, the horns, and even that short guitar moment all fit together nicely. It’s smooth and everything flows along.
I’ve liked Audren’s previous singles, but this one might be the most fun to play on repeat. It has energy, a strong melody and a message that’s simple but honest. You may catch yourself humming the chorus by the next morning.
