Mitchell Broodley – Overtime Again

Mitchell Broodley’s new single “Overtime Again” grabbed me from the first few seconds. I hadn’t heard his music before, but in seconds, I felt drawn in by the way he delivers the story. Like it really matters to him. There’s a raw energy in his voice that perfectly carries the weight of the lyrics. You can tell he’s living the moments he’s singing about and it makes the song hard to ignore.

The song is built around simple and catchy melodies but there’s enough depth to keep it interesting. He has a rich voice and the instrumentation is tight which makes the emotional core of the song hit even harder. I loved how the music moves in sync with the lyrics. Each line lands with a sense of urgency and care. It’s a kind of energy that keeps you leaning in and wanting to hear the next line, the next chord.

There is a great level of songwriting that shines through this record. The song captures the tension of missing someone and wishing there was more time with them. The honesty in the lyrics meshes with his performance in an intimate way. You’re not just hearing the story. You’re experiencing it with him.

By the last seconds. I found myself hitting replay without thinking. This is exactly the kind of modern country track that sticks. It’s straightforward and carries a lot of feeling. I’m excited to see where Mitchell Broodley goes next. He’s going to be an artist I follow closely. The kind of voice and songwriter that keeps surprising you with each release.
