Jesse Bloodgood – Wishful Thinker

Listening to Jesse Bloodgood’s new EP “Wishful Thinker” is like stepping into a room where every corner hums with intention. The EP kicks off with “Lighthouse Night Owl” and I couldn’t help but be drawn in immediately. There’s a weight to this song that grabs you in a way that makes you lean in closer. The chorus hits hard. Jesse’s voice cuts through the instrumentation with a confidence that’s magnetic and the melodies stay in your head forever.

The title track “Wishful Thinker” carries a different energy. It’s powerful and catchy with layers of instruments weaving around his voice in an amazing way. I found myself humming along without even realizing it. The lyrics are well written and the chorus lifts the song just enough to make it feel like a full lived-in experience.

“Tell Me What You Want” creates a more emotional mood while keeping the strength of the sound unchanged. There’s energy here. but it’s controlled. It’s like Jesse is leading you through his feelings. The production ideas are smart and creative. Small touches that give the track movement and keep it engaged from start to finish.

The EP closes with “Cutting Room Floor” a softer and more reflective piece that still holds onto the force of Jesse’s voice. It’s so emotional and a satisfying way to end this record. There’s an honesty in his delivery and his melodies are warm and captivating.

This is one of the best releases I’ve heard in months. Jesse Bloodgood proves himself not just as a singer but as someone who knows how to craft songs that feel alive and honest. The instrumentation are full and his performance carries a sense of commitment that’s rare. I loved how each track had its own personality. The EP as a whole felt cohesive.

This isn’t just another indie rock release. It’s the kind of EP you can return to when you need something powerful and full of emotion. Jesse’s voice and songwriting hold you and I walked away from it feeling like I’d spent time somewhere real. somewhere thoughtfully made.
