Jackson Reed and The Silverbirds – Live in ’25

I’ve had “Live in ’25” on repeat this week and it feels less like an EP and more like standing a few feet from the stage with a plastic cup in your hand. Jackson Reed and The Silverbirds lean into a classic pop-rock sound with big hooks, clear melodies, guitars that actually sound like fingers on strings instead of something polished to death. Trust me, nothing here is fake. You can hear amps humming, drums cracking and people shouting between songs.

Jackson’s voice drives the whole set. It’s strong without feeling forced and he sounds fully present. When the songs open up, he leans in harder and when they pull back, he doesn’t oversing. The guitar playing keeps everything grounded. Switching between sharp leads and solid rhythm gives the songs weight.

I loved the crowd noise. Cheers spill over the endings, messy and loud, sometimes swallowing the last note. Instead of breaking the flow, it makes you feel like you’re actually there, blinking under stage lights while the band resets.

The lyrics are simple and original. The kind you catch yourself humming later. By the final notes, I felt oddly energized, like I’d just left a small venue smiling for no big reason. For me, this is the kind of release that reminds you why live rock still matters.
