Mortal Prophets – Hide Inside The Moon

Mortal Prophets take their time on “Hide Inside The Moon” and I’m glad they do. 16 tracks, about 43 minutes, and somehow it felt like one long steady ride instead of a playlist stitched together. I played it this morning with coffee still steaming on my desk and I didn’t skip a single song.

The album moves through different shades of psych-pop and dream-leaning rock, but it never feels scattered. There’s always something happening in the background. a synth line drifting by, a guitar tucked into the corner, small details that keep the songs full without crowding them. I liked that nothing felt empty. Even in the quieter moments, there’s a sense of direction, like the band knows exactly where they’re heading.

John Beckmann’s voice carries a lot of weight here. He sings with a confident tone and his delivery pulls you in. You can hear how much care he puts into shaping each line. The band behind him stays locked in. giving his ideas space while still adding their own color. It feels like a real group effort, not just one person in the spotlight.

The lyrics stuck with me more than I expected. A few melodies have been looping in my head all the time, the kind you hum without noticing. So for me, this album is like a thoughtful escape. I loved the journey this morning and I’m honestly excited to see where Mortal Prophets go next. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on them this year.
