Mark Vennis & Different Place – Goodbye To All That

Some albums show up right when you didn’t know you needed them and “Goodbye To All That” felt like one of those moments for me. I’d heard the name Mark Vennis & Different Place before, but this record landed at just the right time to really sink in. It has that classic rock backbone, but it doesn’t feel stuck in the past. The sound is confident, lived-in and clearly shaped by people who know their way around songs and studios.

Across these 12 tracks. The band keeps things moving without losing focus. There’s a nice shift in tones and moods from song to song. with guitars doing a lot of the talking and the rhythm section keeping everything grounded. The production is clean but not shiny, which helps the album keep that old-school feel. You can hear the space in the mix, the small details and the care put into how everything sits together.

Mark Vennis’ voice plays a big role in why this album works so well. He sounds sure of himself. delivering the songs with control and feeling. The band behind him is supportive and sharp, giving each track what it needs without crowding it.

I really like how complete the album sounds. The songwriting is thoughtful, the playing is tight and nothing is rushed or thrown in. When the last track ended, I wanted to go back and play the whole record again, which doesn’t happen often. For me, this release is a strong honest album from a band that knows exactly who they are and I have a feeling they’ll be sticking with me for a long time.
