Jake Vera – Lost

When I sat down with this album “Lost” I had a feeling it was going to grab me in a quiet but serious way. I wasn’t wrong. This is the kind of album that asks you to slow down a bit. Jake Vera doesn’t rush you through anything here. He gives each song room to land and you can tell he cares about how every part fits together.

Jake’s style lives somewhere between soft reflection and full-on rock drive. His voice plays a big role in that balance. It’s calm when it needs to be, then pushes harder when the songs call for it. More than anything, he knows how to hold your attention. His writing is thought-out. like every line was chosen for a reason and the melodies stick in no time.

The album opens with “Welcome” a gentle acoustic intro that sets a peaceful mood. It’s like an invitation to his world. Then “Wasteland” comes in and shifts the energy. The song builds patiently before leaning into its heavier side and when it hits, it really hits. “Haunted” leans into a darker space with lyrics and delivery that feel intense without being overdone. “Burn” keeps that weight going while “Resentment” pulls things back toward melody and structure. showing how strong Jake’s writing can be.

“Inside” brings a little different sound, mixing loud moments with hooks that stay with you. “Time” is steady and reflective while “Divide” made me pay closer attention to the guitars and how the lyrics sit on top of them. “Collapse” plays with production in a smart way and “Forsaken” closes the album on a note that feels earned.

For me, this album arrived at exactly the right moment. I needed an album that made me listen closely and feel something real and this one did that. Jake Vera has something special going on here and I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on where he goes next.
