Noctæra is one of the best names I’ve discovered recently. She just landed on my radar with her new album “Visions Through Amber”. The record opens gently with its title track and I found myself completely drawn in. The instrumentation has a classic feel with each instrument weaving into the next in an effortless but deliberate way. The vocals are soft sometimes and powerful when needed. The melodies are warm and linger in your mind long after the songs end. There’s honesty in the songwriting that makes every line feel deliberate without ever feeling forced.
“A Little Peek” shifts gears a bit. Bringing energy and brightness. The mix of pop and folk here is playful and clever and Noctæra’s performance carries it perfectly. You can tell there’s real skill behind the composition and the melodies are impossible to ignore.
By the seventh track, “Let’s Just Stay” I was fully hooked. The arrangement is rich. The chorus hits in just the right way. And there’s a kind of emotional weight that makes it feel lived-in. “L’Inavouée” is a track that stuck with me and I enjoyed replaying it over and over again. The mix of French and English songs adds variety without breaking the flow. And the overall experience is surprisingly cohesive.
Noctæra is a talented artist with unique melodies and strong writing style. Her lyrics are personal and honest. This new release isn’t just an album, it’s a full experience and I love every moment of it.
