Valaura’s latest single “Holy Rollin’” is a fresh burst of energy that immediately grabbed my attention. This Detroit-based band has a knack for blending different styles and this track is no exception. They delivered a sound that’s catchy and engaging. The verses have these jazzy guitar chords that create an atmospheric vibe which then explodes into a chorus full of punch and drive. The band moves smoothly between the softer parts and the powerful and energetic chorus and that makes the song feel dynamic from start to finish.
Abi’s vocals are a real highlight here, her delivery is confident and commanding and she gives the song a sense of boldness that fits the lyrics perfectly. The guitars, drums and bass are all tight and the polished production lets each element shine perfectly. The song speaks to taking risks and pushing through obstacles and the band’s energy in the second half of the track makes it impossible not to get caught up in it.
I’m impressed by this band’s style and the way they craft a sound that’s unique and approachable. “Holy Rollin’” left me excited to hear what they’ll release next, it’s a song that sticks with you long after it ends.
