E.G. Phillips’s new EP, “Nashville Recordings, Vol. 3: Travelogues” is like a small adventure wrapped in four songs. Each track takes you somewhere different, sometimes through dreamy storytelling, other times through clever turns of phrase that make you smile. His songwriting has that rare mix of playfulness and wisdom, where you’re not just listening to the words but also enjoying the personality behind them.
The music itself carries a warm and easygoing rhythm. There’s a lot of character in the instrumentation, little touches that make the songs come alive without ever feeling overdone. His voice has this rich and charming tone that fits perfectly with the kind of stories he tells. It’s expressive without trying too hard and you can tell he means every word he sings.
I love how it feels like a conversation between the artist and the listener. There’s humor, reflection, and a sense of curiosity running through it. The production is relaxed and everything feels perfectly put together. I really love his creativity, his wit and his real love for music that make this release something I’ll be coming back to often.
