Max Greenwood – Modern Standards

I just discovered Max Greenwood, and I’m so glad I did. His new cover album “Modern Standards” is one of those records that quietly pulls you in and doesn’t let go. It’s just him and the piano, it feels full, alive and deeply moving. Each piece flows with a calm energy that makes you want to stop whatever you’re doing and just listen. The way Max interprets familiar songs gives them a new kind of warmth, you can tell how much thought and emotion he puts into every note.

What I love most is how effortless it all feels. His playing is so perfect, never rushed and always giving the melodies space to breathe. The sound is crisp and beautifully mixed, letting the richness of the piano shine through. Whether it’s his take on “Take Me to Church” or “The Final Countdown” there’s a real sense of peace and honesty in the way he approaches the music. This album feels like a soothing and relaxing journey into his world. It’s filled with skill, beauty and heart. I honestly think this album is a masterpiece and I’ll be returning to it often when I need a moment of calm.
