I wasn’t prepared for how much this album would stick with me, but here we are. Plastic Soldiers caught my attention with their debut album “Borrowed Time” and it exceeded my expectations. It feels like the kind of debut you don’t just hear but you experience. This father-and-son duo bring a rare spark that can’t be faked. The chemistry between them pours into every song and you can feel how much heart went into the making of it. The vocals are rich and full of character, the guitars bright and expressive and the drums hit with purpose. Their songwriting is sharp with lyrics that perfectly match the classic and fresh melodies.
I really love the variety here, they move from driving rock to more tender, reflective moments without losing their identity. Everything sounds polished, but never overdone, letting the warmth of their performances shine through. I think this is one of the strongest debuts I’ve heard in a while. It’s heartfelt, memorable and you can tell it’s just the beginning for them.
