University Drive just landed on my radar with their new release, “First Stage Separation” an EP that hits hard with emotion, energy and integrity. Across six tracks, the band blends distorted guitars, pounding drums and passionate vocals into something that feels both raw and carefully crafted. From the haunting tension in “Hollow Sweetness”, which is my favorite here to the explosive force of “Decades Lost” each song carries its own atmosphere while staying true to the band’s alternative rock roots.
What stands out most is the band’s unity. This is their first project where all members contributed to the songwriting and it shows, every part feels alive and personal. The production, done live-to-tape at Electrical Audio, gives the EP an honest and unpolished charm that’s refreshing in today’s music world. This release feels like a real labor of love. It’s powerful, full of character and incredibly well put together. I think it’s the perfect EP to sit with when you just want to feel everything.
