Ecce Shnak’s latest single is ‘Jeremy, Utilitarian Sadboy’ an electrifying and thought provoking journey into the life and contradictions of 19th century philosopher Jeremy Bentham. This genre defying track is a punk, math metal, art rock and even choral anthem in a tiny but explosive package at just two minutes and a half. The band’s rich instrumentation paired with frontman David Roush’s powerful vocals, challenge musical conventions and create a sonic masterpiece.
The single is a teaser for their upcoming “Shadows Grow Fangs” EP and it’s really a good example of what we can expect from the EP. The polished production and the professional mixing make for a great listening experience and the lyrics are steeped in themes of justice, mortality, and Bentham’s eccentric legacy. The music video is a perfect complement to the track. Bringing visual depth to its raw and powerful energy. This band’s ability to craft melodies that stick and lyrics that make you think is a testament to their creativity and talent that should be given far more attention.
As someone who loves innovation in music, I was blown away by this track’s boldness and sheer brilliance. It’s one of the best records I’ve heard recently and definitely getting a place in my daily playlist. It’s rare to find a band that balances humor, intellect and musical ingenuity so effortlessly. I love this band’s style and skills and can’t wait to see what else they bring with their upcoming EP!
