I think it has been quite sometime since I last reviewed a deep house track and today I got the chance and I got one of the best tracks of the year, yes I will go that far. Steve Solo’s latest single, “Solostate” is a deep house track that is as deep as it can get and takes the listeners on a soul searching journey. Inspired by such legends as Robert Miles and Deadmau5, this seven-minute masterpiece is a testimony to the fact that the artist is capable of transforming life’s challenges into music that is as therapeutic as it is engaging. Recorded in a small room in the Midlands with minimal equipment, we can see Steve’s passion for his work, which shows that even the most basic of setups can produce something great.
The song has a dark and melancholic feel to it with some uplifting chords which represent a transition from darkness to light, something that Steve has gone through in his life. The production is perfect, and the equilibrium that is provided to the audience is one that will make them lose themselves in the music and feel both deep thoughts and happiness. For me as a fan of Deep House, “Solostate” is one of the best tracks I’ve ever heard. The combination of passion and skill was perfect that I did not hesitate to press the replay button. This is not just a track, it is an experience and it has rightfully found a place in my playlist. It is great to see Steve Solo in the music scene and I am looking forward to the next project he will be working on.
