Cristian Albani just hit my radar with his latest EP entitled “Elsewherever” a beautifully translated collection that brings his Italian dream-pop sound to English-speaking audiences. Originated from his Italian EP “Altrovunque,” this EP retains the mesmerizing qualities that made Albani’s music so popular in his homeland, with reflective lyrics entwining clear ghostly melodies. Each song is filled with a soft mixture of dreamy synths and tender delivered vocals that put the spirit of contemplation into Cristian’s life: it exists “elsewhere” and “wherever.” Captivatingly enough, this is a balance between the introspective world of one human being and the universal human experience in general, adding depth to the music.
Albani’s voice is well the highlight of the EP: rich, captivating, and perfectly matched to the lush instrumentals. Impressive was the craftsmanship in both songwriting and production. The melodies were so memorable, leaving a mark in length that created a unique soundscape that’s both familiar and refreshingly original. I really think this EP is a true gem and could testify to Cristian’s full potential. There’s just such a beautiful, transportive quality to his music; I really am excited to see where his journey takes him next.
