Cat Ryan – Rex Mundi

We are super excited to share this outstanding release “Rex Mundi” by British band Cat Ryan. You’ll get stuck singing this song long after it’s over! The tune of this track is catchy and the production is simple, professional and brought this record to a whole new level. The vocalist has one of the richest voices we’ve heard in months and her performance on record is on another level. The instrumental is enjoyable and the vocal melodies are catchy and mesh perfectly with the lyrics. The atmosphere of this song is beautiful and the lyrics are original and well written. This band is professional and their music is refreshing and sets them apart from the crowd. We hope you love this record as much as we do!

ABOUT THE BAND:

Art-Rock/Modern-Shoegaze quintet, Cat Ryan, are one of the most promising artists from Newcastle upon Tyne currently, as they continually mesmerise audiences through their exciting blend of genres that hints at new music territory.

Following the release of singles “Mannerism”, “Blessed Through The TV”, and “Mary Shelley Song” – all released in 2020 – Cat Ryan saw themselves build significant momentum thanks to the praise and support that came from tastemakers such as Xune Mag, When The Horn BlowsThe Girls At The Rock Show, csgmblogIndietronica and Yack Magazine, as well as being featured by, The Burning EarLoud Women, AAA Backstage and Little Indie Blogs.

During 2021 Cat Ryan focussed on playing gigs (when lockdown restrictions allowed for live music to take place) whilst balancing the academic commitments of their third and final year. This meant the band quietly worked behind the scenes on their upcoming EP (due for release in autumn 2022).

Now, having completed university, Cat Ryan are back and ready to hit the ground running. Already this year has seen the band become a five-piece, adding Evie Rhodes to the line-up as bassist. Having said this, the band now have two drummers: Charlie Radford and Simon Tarbox – though there’s only ever one drummer playing at gigs on stage at any one time.

This new incarnation of Cat Ryan have already been active on the gig circuit this year, having headlined The Globe, Newcastle as part of Independent Venue Week; supported M60 at Bobiks in March; and played NE Volume Bar’s 2nd Anniversary all-dayer alongside Martha Hill in April. Consequently, the next gigs Cat Ryan have are: 10th April at Tynebank Brewery (sold out) with Kin Events, and at Little Buildings on 14th May supporting Dilettante.

The trio have already gained a lot industry support, exemplified when Cat Ryan reached the #1 position in the ‘Popular’ chart on Hype Machine with their release “Mary Shelley Song“. Having been signed to Pillar Artists (management/label), Cat Ryan are in a position to gain significant traction as they develop alongside Art-Rock contemporaries Youth Sector, Swine Tax, Coach Party, CIEL and Tranqua Lite.

The self-conscious nature of their songwriting makes Cat Ryan stand out from amongst the indie landscape that has dominated the last decade, as Art-Rock, Post-Punk and Alt-Rock continue to emerge as new musical directions.
