Capital Theatre – Long Way to Fall

We can’t get enough of this stunning single “Long Way to Fall” by the New Zealand based band Capital Theatre. The song comes with a creative and professional video that will definitely give you a better experience while listening. Honestly, we can’t find the right words to describe how incredible this song is. The bass is amazing, the guitars and drums are so enjoyable and the melodic piano intro adds the most perfect touch we could ever ask for. The lyrics are so original and the production is polished and sounds very professional. The singing voice is a piece of art and the melodies are catchy and mesh with the lyrics perfectly. We hope you love this track as much as we do and we hope to hear more projects from this talented band soon!

WHAT THE BAND SAYS ABOUT THIS SONG:

Long Way to Fall sits at track four on the album. The album explores the various stages of the hero’s journey, with this song dealing with the journey outward to unchartered territory. The melodic piano intro and driving lead guitar lines really propels the idea that a quest or adventure has been embarked upon. Whether consumer literally or metaphorically, Long Way to Fall should take the listener on a journey, exploring themes of seeking guidance and answers, sacrificing love for a sense of duty and accepting that unknown consequences will come from answering the call to adventure.”

CAPITAL THEATRE & THE HERO’S JOURNEY

CAPITAL THEATRE were inspired by the works of mythology guru Joseph Campbell, well known for guiding George Lucas in his development of the Star Wars series. The band set about writing a concept album that followed the hero’s journey archetype, which immediately caught the attention of well known rock producer Mike Clink.

“What attracted me to the project is that each song takes you on a journey delivered with conviction through the music and the lyrics. From pre-production through recording, we fine-tuned each song to capture those messages. While this album was technically challenging to record with distance and time changes, it did not diminish the quality. Paul, Adam and Roy, are a band of brothers and I enjoyed being on this journey with them,” says Clink.

The album was recorded in Los Angeles at Hollywood’s NRG studios early in 2020, however the Covid-19 Pandemic forced a quick relocation back to NZ.

After New Zealand’s six week lock-down, the band were granted access to Neil Finn’s Roundhead Studios in Auckland, where via a system of FaceTime and a live audio stream within ProTools, they were able to reconnect with Clink in LA and continue recording and mixing the remainder of the album.

The bands management lead by former Head of Warner NZ, James Southgate, will be working on the release of the tracks throughout 2021. Meanwhile the band have begun writing their 2nd album with the hope of travelling back to L.A. in 2021 to record again with Clink.
