This unique folk song,“Creature Comforts,” from the talented band Couchsleepers, is one of the best songs we’ve heard in months! Even though we listened to this song dozens of times, we still can’t find the right words to describe its charm. The production of this song is simple and beautiful, the atmosphere is unique and the vocal melodies are incredibly catchy. The singing voice is a piece of art and the lyrics are honest and well written. We enjoy listening to their vocals until the last every time we play the song! We hope you love it as much as we do!
WHAT THE BAND SAYS ABOUT THIS SONG:
“When I wrote “Creature Comforts”, I was thinking a lot about the post-relationship double standard around hooking up — if you do it, it’s just to get your mind off things; when your ex does it, it’s betrayal. It’s an ugly, jealous thought and one that’s occupied a lot of space in my mind. I don’t want to be a possessive person. “Creature Comforts” is my way of exploring those concerns.”
“We recorded this song (along with all the others on our forthcoming EP, Monsters) in a renovated farmhouse in rural Vermont, our covid retreat, after the abbreviation of the release tour for our first album, Only When It’s Dark, in March of last year.”
ABOUT THE BAND:
Folk storytelling that tastes like indie rock; a soundtrack for the restless nights.
Couchsleepers was formed in 2019 by writer, producer, and neuroscientist Harrison Wood Hsiang, uniting under a single name a sprawling collective of musicians and artists. The band made its debut with the nine-track Only When It’s Dark in late February of 2020. Their debut tour took them through many colleges (Middlebury, Vassar, MIT), festivals (Nocturne, The Miscellaneous), and venues (Rockwood Music Hall Stage 2, Pianos, ArtsRiot, Once Somerville, …) before being abbreviated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
On the road, Hsiang is joined by frequent collaborators Mike Nunziante, Brendan Ronan, and Max Shashoua.
