We can’t get enough of this upbeat country track “Hopeless Romantic” by Canadian singer-songwriter Bobby Dove. We are not sure if we could find the right words to describe how wonderful this song is. This track is one of the best Country tracks we’ve heard recently! Bobby’s voice is rich, beautiful and powerful, and the lyrics are original and well written. The production of this track is professional and the atmosphere is so catchy. The guitars and drums are stunning and the vocal melodies are lovely. The chorus is so beautiful and there is an amazing level of songwriting that shines up through this record. Bobby Dove is so talented and we are very excited to see where Bobby’s career will go over the coming months!
ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Since the 2016 release of Bobby Dove’s debut full-length album, Thunderchild, the Montreal-born singer songwriter has built a following across Canada and beyond. Bobby has become known as one of the country’s most dedicated troubadours, crooning live audiences with heart-worn originals, and paying tribute to the golden age of Country music.
Along the road, Bobby has worked with a number of legendary players, and shared stages with artists such as Mary Gauthier, Richard Thompson, Irish Mythen, The Sadies and JD Mcpherson. In 2019, Bobby spent a month in residency at the Banff Centre and has performed at a number of Canadian folk fests, including the Vancouver Folk Music Festival and Vancouver Island Music Fest.
Co-produced with Bazil Donovan (Blue Rodeo) and Tim Vesely (Rheostatics) at The Woodshed studio in Toronto, Bobby Dove’s new album, Hopeless Romantic, offers 11 new original Americana/Country songs on subjects such as unrequited love, being on the road, haunted hotels and hard-rocking pallbearers. On Hopeless Romantic, Bobby collaborates with some of the finest in Canadian Country music including Jimmy Bowskill (The Sheepdogs, Blue Rodeo), Burke Carroll (Kathleen Edwards) as well as guest singers Jim Cuddy (Blue Rodeo) and Jenny Whiteley.
The upbeat title track and lead single (with video), satirically exposes the highs and lows of being a “Hopeless Romantic”. Bobby’s vividly shattered dreams are brought to life with nostalgic melodies, and a topnotch Canadian country band that includes Bazil Donovan and Jimmy Bowskill – along with an animated visual clip produced by the “gorgeous and glorious” Gregory Pepper.
The Dove is currently hunkering down in western Manitoba, supporting the launch of Hopeless Romantic as well as developing The Bobby Dove Show, a virtual variety show, featuring Bobby’s new songs, and interviews with renowned roots/Country singer-songwriters from across Canada. Sponsored by the Canada Council for the Arts, the Bobby Dove Show will be shared on Bobby’s social-media as well as on bobbydove.com.
