WHAT THE ARTST SAYS ABOUT THIS SONG:

“The song takes the blues motif of losing the one you love into a quirky anthem for misfits refusing to fit into existing social ideals. and into a plea for mental health in an age where “We’re all just animals / Living in the internet.” The vocals, like the lyrics, are fun, feel good, and stress free.”

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Sean Waters makes feel-good indie rock music to remind us of the ecstatic joy and power of new beginnings. Inspired by neo-hippies Edward Sharp and the Magnetic Zeroes, and retro rock powerhouses Nathaniel Nateliff and the Night Sweats, Waters offers Rocky Mountain crafted songs about love and death in 21st Century America.

In early 2019, Waters caught his first industry break after his demos intrigued L.A.-based producer Justin Andres, the live music director for Rock and Roll Hall-of-Famer Eric Burdon & the Animals, and he was invited to come to Los Angeles to craft an EP of lushly layered singles straddling Colorado alternative rock and California indie pop. “Easy Graces” his debut single, reached number 9 on Submithub’s Rock Chart, where bloggers noted a sophisticated production, and a “haunting quality that speaks to being misunderstood or unseen in a world that prizes itself on likes and shares” (LA on Lock).  The “Easy Graces” official music video, a layered labor of love, ironically, has 60K views on FB and counting.

Before launching a career as a radiator of joy, performer, writer, and bandleader in early 2020, Sean Waters has worked as a philosophy instructor, ski bum and touring musician who logged over 1000 shows in sought after local “human jukebox” cover band / singer-songwriter duo, The Seers.

After nearly 15 years of cutting his teeth as an amateur artist, in early 2020, inspired by the L.A. recording sessions with Andres, the idea of the Sunrise Genius was born, and Waters soon signed with Syncopate Media, a start-up artist services company.

Waters has appeared at the Colorado Showcase at SXSW and other festivals in the front range. In press, Sean has been called a “skillful, entertaining and soulful performer” whose “voice shines like a diamond … soft, emotional and exciting at the same time.”  Of “Easy Graces,” Comeherefloydnoted “a ‘graceful’ ambience, patient and true, Sean’s blue water depth of vocals calm the nerves as the world outside crashes just underneath the surface.”

Following the seasonal flow of nature, partnerships with new producers and a set of singles and a EPs are forthcoming in the summer, fall, and spring of 2020/21Throughout it all, Waters is working to craft a long-term sustainable career that is itself a layered labor of love, an exercise in the easy graces of an artistic life where, above all, you’re true to yourself.
