“Leave Me Alone” by the Canadian artist Claire Coupland, is something you just can’t believe, is one of the most beautiful songs that we have discovered on Cheers To The Vikings. Claire’s voice is pure and charming and her performance is very unique and professional. The lyrics are original and catchy. The melodies and the beautiful guitar tunes in this record are very creative and very unique and put you into a wonderful atmosphere. Now we think it safe to say that Cheers To The Vikings’ team is a new fan of Claire’s songs.
ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Claire was selected as a songwriter for The Banff Centre For Arts & Creativity’s Singer Songwriter Residency for the month of March, among 29 other song writers from around the world. Following this, she finished recording and mixing her second EP, “On The Other Side”, and released it in July 2018, to glowing reviews from Americana UK, Blues & Roots Radio, The Permanent Rain Press, and many others across North America and around the world. The EP reached #3 in the national Folk/Roots/Blues charts for !earshot, and has been featured on radio and music blogs across Canada, the US, and the UK/Europe. Track #3, “Love In Your Eyes”, was recently nominated for the Colleen Peterson Songs From The Heart Award (OAC) for 2018. CBC Radio One featured her as an in studio guest on Fresh Air, and have been spinning her music across the country on various CBC programs. She completed a month long tour of Vancouver Island following the release, which included her 6th journey across the country as feature Artist On Board with VIA Rail Canada. Tour highlights included Victoria Dragon Boat Festival, 39 Days Of July Festival, Parksville Beach Festival and Beach Hill Park Folk Series In The Park, as well as The Filberg Festival, Harmony Arts Festival, and many others during the past year. She has recently shot a 2 video live performance series featuring 2 songs off of her EP, and with one video released in October, and the next one to follow in November.
Originally from Vancouver Island, Claire arrived in Toronto in 2011 to pursue a degree in music at Humber College. Since graduation, Claire has been performing, touring, writing and recording non stop. A performer for David Foster’s 25th Anniversary Celebration in 2012, and a featured writer for Humber Music’s Producer In Residence Week with Bob Ezrin (KISS, Pink Floyd, Lou Reed, Deep Purple, Peter Gabriel), Claire is making a name for herself in the folk/songwriter community across Canada. She has shared stages with Jacksoul, Beady Belle, Great Lake Swimmers, Melanie Dekker, Jim Byrnes, The Wooden Sky, Barney Bentall, Delhi 2 Dublin, and David Gogo and has loaned her talent to non profit organizations such as Girls Rock Camp Toronto, Nellie’s Shelter, Souper Bowls Of Hope.
