I knew this one would be a standout from the first listen. “The Bigger Picture” the latest album from Oscar Utterstrom is an impressive showcase of talent, creativity and masterful musicianship. Oscar Utterstrom is a Swedish trombonist who has lived in Nashville for more than 20 years and brings jazz, acoustic warmth and reflective melodies to this 13 track album. The vocal tracks are enriched by his collaboration with lyricist Wayne Moore and vocalist Molly Parden. His instrumental pieces showcase his skillful trombone work, which flows with the rest of the instrumentation.
It is a comfy and inspiring album that gives you a chill vibe to relax and reflect. The production is nothing short of excellent and the acoustic elements give it an authentic, down to earth feel. The cover of I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing is a standout moment, beautifully reimagined with rich instrumentation. I just came across this artist last week and I really enjoy the quality of his music. This album is a must listen from start to finish and his professionalism and passion really come through.
