Chicago hip hop artist CantBuyDeem teams up with DJ Hustlenomics on his new mixtape “CDs, DVDs & Loose Squares Vol. 2” DJ Hustlenomics’ signature sound tags and cuts bring a nostalgic but fresh feel to this project, reviving the authentic feel of 90s and early 2000s mixtape culture which is something I really like and value.
It’s an album that skilfully weaves influences from early Chance the Rapper and Mick Jenkins, a sound that looks back to hip hop’s golden era, but also moves forward with modern innovation. The lyrics are both original and personal and CantBuyDeem’s rich voice and smooth yet hard hitting delivery elevate them. One of the many things that I really loved in this album is the collaborations with Chicago talents.
This artist has an amazing passion for his music and really deserves more attention. This mixtape feels like a bridge between hip-hop’s roots and its future. I’m a fan of real and real rap and that is exactly what I found in this project. I’m impressed by the good production, lyrics and Deem’s amazing talent. This is an album that hip-hop fans shouldn’t miss!
