Rival Karma are back with a bang and their high energy single “Chew It!” is as rebellious as it is fun. After their 2022 Powerduism EP, the band comes back with a new sound that will set the tone for what is sure to be a great 2025. The song is inspired by the absurdity of chewing gum and combines humor, metaphor and powerful rock elements to make a track that sticks in your head and gets you moving.
Andrea Mastroiacovo makes the production razor sharp. The explosive vocals and incredible instrumentation shine on every element. The chant-like chorus “Chew It!” is my favorite and it’s easy to imagine why it would be amazing for live performances. It’s a ‘90s rock anthem nod, but with its own special flair, in a whimsical, post apocalyptic world where chewing gum is a rebellion.
Pure energy, this track is a danceable, singable powerhouse. I couldn’t help but hum along and start to dance. “Chew It!” is proof of this band’s growing potential and a creative edge that rivals deserve more recognition. I can’t wait to see where they go next and will be keeping an eye on their journey.
