I’m super excited about this one!! I wasn’t even halfway through the first song when I knew this was special. After nearly three decades, the talented and professional band A Flock of Seagulls has returned with “Some Dreams” which is their first album of new material since 1995. The album, released last week, is 10 tracks of their iconic synth driven sound, mixed with dynamic guitars and infectious rhythms.
The anthemic energy of the lead single “Some Dreams” set the stage, earning praise from fans and critics alike. “Him” is the standout track on the album and it shows Mike Score’s lyrical depth and melodic brilliance. Songs like the brooding “Fool” and the atmospheric “Time” show the band’s ability to blend nostalgia with fresh ideas. However, if you ask me about my favorite track, I would say it is “All To You” because of its catchy melodies, good rhythms and solid instrumentation.
I really like the production of this album. It is polished, creative and surprising with every track featuring beautifully crafted melodies and memorable choruses. The instrumentals create a lush soundscape that supports the expressive vocals and poignant lyrics perfectly.
Listening to this album was a joy from start to finish. It brings a nostalgic and refreshing feeling, a feeling that reminds us why A Flock of Seagulls has endured as legends in the music world. A testament to their ability to innovate while staying true to their roots, “Some Dreams” is a must listen for longtime fans and newcomers alike.
