I Am Your Wife! crashes onto the scene with their new EP “Gore Confetti” a seven track powerhouse packed with explosive energy and gritty storytelling. This self-produced record is the outcome of two years of hard work of the London-based quartet and the listeners will not forget this sound.
Right from the first track ‘Splatterpunk Chic’ you are thrown into a chaotic post-apocalyptic world with aggressive guitar work, heavy drums and raw vocals. Songs such as “Anvilheads” and “Monsters” bring vivid, imaginative narratives, whether exploring conspiracy theorists or mutant eco-beasts. The band’s knack for mixing sharp commentary with wild, fuzz-drenched rock is captivating.
The one thing that really makes “Gore Confetti” stand out is the musicianship of the band. MikeWife’s raw vocals and rhythm guitar hold down the noise, while LoafWife’s lead guitar adds electrifying solos. JezWife’s drumming maintains the energy level high, while AaronWife’s bass is dark and threatening. The last song of the EP “Man in a Quarry” is one of the best, a haunting, visceral journey into desperation that leaves an emotional mark.
This EP is exhilarating. It’s loud, it’s bold, and it doesn’t care if you like it or not, it will drag you into its universe from the beginning till the end. I didn’t think I would enjoy it this much, but “Gore Confetti” shows that I Am Your Wife! is a band to keep an eye on.
