The professional duo Singing River left me stuck on repeat with their new release, “Talkin’ Destination Blues” an Americana album that masterfully blends nostalgia and innovation. From the moment the first track begins, it’s clear this album is a labor of love, crafted with care and an appreciation for American music’s roots. The production led by Mikey James and Anthony Kuhn, is polished, creative and smart.
The album is a great experience from start to finish, so it was hard for me to pick a favorite track, however, there are two of them that I listened to repeatedly. I really loved the songwriting, instrumentation, and gentle vocals of “She Feels Like a Diamond” and the energetic beat and rhythm of “I Keep Running” which will keep you coming back for more.
With 8 tracks in total, this album is as energetic as it is passion filled and holds choruses You will never forget along with the varied, rich and lively instrumentals. As for me expressing the album, it seems to me that it is vintage and at the same time sounds fresh and modern. Singing River’s ability to channel the soul of past eras while paving their own path is impressive. To call this an album is quite misleading because as I said, this is more than a set of songs, it’s a journey and I’m curious to see what these artists have in store for us the next time.
