Grace McLean just landed on our radar with her new album, “My Lovely Enemy,” which combines classic and modern musical sounds in an enjoyable way. It is a great collection of songs with a wide range from vibrant anthems to soulful ballads featuring her unique voice for pop. She has one of the purest and most beautiful pop voices we’ve ever heard and we really love it.
This record was made excellent by Justin Goldner who did the production and Jack DeBoe who mixed it; Blake Morgan also mastered each track on this album. Each song carries its own mood/tone, showcasing McLean’s ability to pen beautifully written lyrics with infectious melodies that stay long after the sound fades.
She describes My Lovely Enemy as a record about heartbreak. In her words, “These songs are a raucous wake for a love well lived, and a celebration of the barriers pain breaks down that we might rebuild better, and differently.” Therefore, this idea of questioning life and making it meaningful can be perceived in every tune thus arousing people’s feelings (both physical and mental) as they listen to this album.
